February 2008: captivated by the new found hope in America, France-based American expatriate, Guetty Felin and French husband Hervé Cohen, journey to America in the hopes of grasping a better sense of the movement that is energizing so many Americans, whether Democrats, Independents or even Republicans. As the couple journey from state to state during the Democratic primaries, from Texas to Oregon, they unearth the personal, compelling stories of an array of charismatic individuals and supporters. Glimpses of Senator Obama in Town Hall meetings and rallies, interwoven with the work of his supporters, help illuminate the issues preoccupying most Americans today: the economy, equal opportunities, social justice, the war... “Closer to the Dream” aims to encapsulate the essence of an historical moment in America and the movement that is uniting diverse constituents all across the nation.
